Tired of Being a Tourist?
Have you been to Israel before and hunger for a deeper experience?
Are you eager to use your English skills to empower young people?
Do you want to develop your experience in Jewish-Christian relations?
The Philos Project and the Israel Center for Jewish-Christian Relations invite you to join us for a unique Jewish-Christian program in Israel, directed by Philos Associate Fellow Dr. Faydra Shapiro.
The Israel Engagement Program is a unique opportunity that brings English-speaking, Christian young adults (ages 20+) to Israel as teaching fellows for a three month (one-semester) organized program of community service, study and touring. The community service component utilizes the ability that teaching fellows all possess – native English conversation ability – and mobilizes that ability to enrich the English-learning curriculum for students at Jewish and Arab Christian schools. The program’s study component will be focused on learning about Jewish-Christian relations and contemporary Israeli society, with teaching provided by academics and activists with advanced degrees and experience in the field. Touring will be with licensed guides to local archaeological, religious and historical sites. The program also offers the fellows local guest speakers, Hebrew language learning and a Shabbat experience.

“As a Christian, I understand the value of restoring relationships between Jews and Christians. Though complex and emotional, I desire to be someone who redeems conversations and creates atmospheres of safety and empathy, one relationship at a time. I am honored and humbled to be apart of a program that is choosing to change the course of history and bridge the gap between Jews and Christians that, for centuries, have been filled with tension, grief and loss, and mistrust. I want to be an ambassador for Jewish-Christian relations and I want to start now.” – Destiny Santiago, Israel Engagement Program ’18
“I will definitely recommend this program. It is an amazing experience for anyone who is interested in anything remotely related to Jewish-Christian relations, Israel, Interfaith advocacy and whatever else you can connect to this beautiful land and people. This program has a way of captivating hearts, so even if you’re not sure why you need to be here, it will reveal itself.” – Angel McFarland, Israel Engagement Program ’18
