History is repeating itself. Antisemitism is intensifying across the West, and the preservation of our civilization rests on each individual proactively standing for our Judeo-Christian values.
What’s happening
In Los Angeles this weekend, pro-Palestinian protestors attacked Jews outside a synagogue and defaced the building. This week, a group of Jewish schoolchildren were assaulted at a London tube station. In France, a teenage Jewish girl was raped for being Jewish.
Jews as targets of “peace” activism
The Far Left and Far Right are painting Israel and the Jewish people as the villains of their respective social justice activism and neo-isolationist agenda. These groups are not only falling into age-old antisemitic patterns but are employing their democratic right to freedom of speech and assembly to advocate for the proliferation of ideals that undermine those rights.
Historical parallels
The Holocaust did not happen in a vacuum. These atrocities were perpetrated by societies taught to view Jews as sub-human and the source of society’s biggest problems. In post-WWI Russia, pro-czarist propaganda scapegoated Jews as the source of societal problems. In post-WWI Germany, pro-Aryan propaganda blamed Jews as the cause of Germany’s defeat during the Great War.
Now in America and Europe, pro-Palestinian, anti-Zionist, and socialist politicians are blaming Israel and Western Jews as the cause of government failures, the plight of Palestinians, and the tragedies of war in Gaza.
Clashing worldviews
The threat to the Jewish people is emblematic of a greater threat to Western civilization. In modern history, Jews have been targeted in social revolutions aimed at upending the existing civilizational structure. Today, the West is being confronted by Islamists and anti-Western ideologies. Islamists seek to proliferate Shariah across the world, where individual freedoms, the right to self-express, and free worship would cease to exist.
The preservation of our free society depends upon each of us standing for the values undergirding our freedoms, including freedom of speech, assembly, and religion.
