Pathfinder
Your leadership journey starts here.
Pathfinder is the foundational leadership program offered by The Philos Project.
Consisting of free online mini-courses and an in-person retreat for qualified participants, Pathfinder orients Christians towards the region where their faith was born and equips them to lead in the face of conflict. Graduates of Pathfinder emerge as Hebraic leaders that are equipped to tackle complex issues abroad and in their own backyards.
Both the Pathfinder courses and the in-person capstone retreat are offered free of charge to all participants, and both are prerequisites for the Philos Leadership Institute, a fully subsidized trip to explore the Near East on the ground!

Frequently Asked Questions
Each Pathfinder mini-course consists of lectures, supplemental readings, knowledge check quizzes, and an interactive discussion board. As such, we recommend that you budget between 4-6 hours to complete each course. The introductory Basic Pathfinder Course is slightly longer and may require additional hours.
Anyone is eligible to participate in the Pathfinder program. These courses, taught by renowned experts in the field, are free and accessible to anyone who wants to tackle real-world issues as a Hebraic leader.
Pathfinder is the foundational leadership program of The Philos Project and the first step towards qualification for further study. It is a set of courses that provide students with invaluable knowledge about their faith, the Near East, and leadership. Only after completing Pathfinder and attending the capstone retreat will participants be eligible for the Philos Leadership Institute (PLI). PLI allows participants to explore what they have learned on the ground in Israel!
The courses provide a unique (and completely free) opportunity to learn from experts about issues relevant to not just those interested in the Near East but anyone who seeks to grow in the area of Christian leadership. They also provide a gateway into a program for those seriously interested in Christian leadership and advocacy to be educated, equipped, and trained to eventually take on boots-on-the-ground advocacy projects in regions around the world.
The in-person capstone retreat is a fully subsidized opportunity for young Christian leaders to come together with likeminded individuals to utilize what they have learned throughout the Pathfinder program. The retreat will offer participants action-oriented leadership training and will feature expert lecturers and Philos staff.
Simply put, a Biblical leader. A Christian who is oriented towards Jerusalem and recognizes that the Kingdom of God is the ultimate destination.
Our traditional “certificate track” allows participants to earn a Pathfinder certificate and gain a holistic and foundational understanding of Hebraic leadership and the intersection between the Near East and their Christian faith. It also opens up opportunities to apply for seminars, retreats, and trips, like our fully subsidized Pathfinder retreat and the Philos Leadership Institute, a fully funded 2-week trip to the Near East! Beginning in August 2022, however, the Pathfinder site will also offer an “à la carte” option that allows users to take individual courses of interest without committing to obtaining a certificate. These courses can be applied to a certificate in the future if desired.
Those between the ages of 20-35 who complete all the online Pathfinder coursework are eligible to apply for the in-person capstone Pathfinder retreat. If you are outside of the age range and are interested in attending the retreat, feel free to reach out to discuss individual circumstances. The application for the Fall 2022 in-person retreat will open in October and retreat dates/location will be announced soon!
Beginning on August 1, 2022, Pathfinder will remain open indefinitely for rolling admission. This means that you register and obtain access to the platform at anytime, anywhere.
