Novena For Peace 2025

Our Patron:
St. Charbel, Maronite priest and monk, known as the “Wonder-Worker of the East”

Novena Prayer:

Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Charbel,
You who dwell on mountains made holy by prophecy and prayer,
We turn to you in these nine days with hearts full of hope.

Last year, we prayed for peace when peace seemed impossible.
But through the prayers of the faithful and the courage of peacemakers,
Miracles unfolded: hostilities were restrained,
Hezbollah stood down,
And even in war, a measure of mercy was granted.

Now, we ask for something greater still:
A lasting peace between two peoples long divided by violence.
Let Mount Carmel and Mount Lebanon—just one hundred miles apart—
Stand not as distant watchtowers,
But as twin beacons of reconciliation and unity.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
You who now reign where Elijah once called down fire from heaven—
Intercede now for the Holy Land.
Bring an end to this war.
Protect the innocent.
Free the captives.
Turn hearts away from terror and vengeance.
Let justice and mercy meet in your land once more.

Saint Charbel,
Hermit of Lebanon and miracle-worker for the world,
Pray for your beloved country.
May Lebanon be delivered from the grip of corruption,
Freed from the shadow of war,
And renewed in its ancient vocation:
To be a message of peace,
A refuge for the suffering,
And a bridge between East and West.

May the impossible become possible once more.
And may God, through your intercession,
Bring peace where there has been bloodshed,
And hope where there has been despair.
